52:1
وَٱلطُّورِ
ﲏ
By the mountain,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:2
وَكِتَـٰبٍۢ
مَّسْطُورٍۢ
ﲒ
by a Scripture inscribed
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:3
فِى
رَقٍّۢ
مَّنشُورٍۢ
ﲖ
in unrolled parch-ment,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:4
وَٱلْبَيْتِ
ٱلْمَعْمُورِ
ﲙ
by the much-visited House,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:5
وَٱلسَّقْفِ
ٱلْمَرْفُوعِ
ﲜ
by the raised canopy,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:6
وَٱلْبَحْرِ
ٱلْمَسْجُورِ
ﲟ
by the ocean ever filled,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:7
إِنَّ
عَذَابَ
رَبِّكَ
لَوَٰقِعٌۭ
ﲤ
[Prophet], your Lord’s punishment is coming––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:8
مَّا
لَهُۥ
مِن
دَافِعٍۢ
ﲩ
it cannot be put off––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:9
يَوْمَ
تَمُورُ
ٱلسَّمَآءُ
مَوْرًۭا
ﲮ
on the Day when the sky sways back and forth
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:10
وَتَسِيرُ
ٱلْجِبَالُ
سَيْرًۭا
ﲲ
and the mountains float away.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:11
فَوَيْلٌۭ
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ
لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
ﲶ
Woe on that Day to those who deny the Truth,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:12
ٱلَّذِينَ
هُمْ
فِى
خَوْضٍۢ
يَلْعَبُونَ
ﲼ
who amuse themselves with idle chatter:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:13
يَوْمَ
يُدَعُّونَ
إِلَىٰ
نَارِ
جَهَنَّمَ
دَعًّا
ﳃ
on that Day they will be thrust into the Fire of Hell.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:14
هَـٰذِهِ
ٱلنَّارُ
ٱلَّتِى
كُنتُم
بِهَا
تُكَذِّبُونَ
ﳊ
‘This is the Fire you used to deny.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:15
أَفَسِحْرٌ
هَـٰذَآ
أَمْ
أَنتُمْ
لَا
تُبْصِرُونَ
ﱇ
So is this sorcery? Do you still not see it?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:16
ٱصْلَوْهَا
فَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟
أَوْ
لَا
تَصْبِرُوا۟
سَوَآءٌ
عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ
إِنَّمَا
تُجْزَوْنَ
مَا
كُنتُمْ
تَعْمَلُونَ
ﱕ
Burn in it––it makes no difference whether you bear it patiently or not–– you are only being repaid for what you have done.’

52:17
إِنَّ
ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
فِى
جَنَّـٰتٍۢ
وَنَعِيمٍۢ
ﱛ
Those who were mindful of God are in Gardens and in bliss,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:18
فَـٰكِهِينَ
بِمَآ
ءَاتَىٰهُمْ
رَبُّهُمْ
وَوَقَىٰهُمْ
رَبُّهُمْ
عَذَابَ
ٱلْجَحِيمِ
ﱤ
rejoicing in their Lord’s gifts: He has saved them from the torment of the Blaze,

52:19
كُلُوا۟
وَٱشْرَبُوا۟
هَنِيٓـًٔۢا
بِمَا
كُنتُمْ
تَعْمَلُونَ
ﱫ
‘Eat and drink with healthy enjoyment as a reward for what you have done.’

52:20
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ
عَلَىٰ
سُرُرٍۢ
مَّصْفُوفَةٍۢ ۖ
وَزَوَّجْنَـٰهُم
بِحُورٍ
عِينٍۢ
ﱴ
They are comfortably seated on couches arranged in rows; We pair them with beautiful-eyed maidens;

52:21
وَٱلَّذِينَ
ءَامَنُوا۟
وَٱتَّبَعَتْهُمْ
ذُرِّيَّتُهُم
بِإِيمَـٰنٍ
أَلْحَقْنَا
بِهِمْ
ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ
وَمَآ
أَلَتْنَـٰهُم
مِّنْ
عَمَلِهِم
مِّن
شَىْءٍۢ ۚ
كُلُّ
ٱمْرِئٍۭ
بِمَا
كَسَبَ
رَهِينٌۭ
ﲉ
We unite the believers with their offspring who followed them in faith–– We do not deny them any of the rewards for their deeds: each person is in pledge for his own deeds––

52:22
وَأَمْدَدْنَـٰهُم
بِفَـٰكِهَةٍۢ
وَلَحْمٍۢ
مِّمَّا
يَشْتَهُونَ
ﲏ
We provide them with any fruit or meat they desire.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:23
يَتَنَـٰزَعُونَ
فِيهَا
كَأْسًۭا
لَّا
لَغْوٌۭ
فِيهَا
وَلَا
تَأْثِيمٌۭ
ﲘ
They pass around a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin.

52:24
۞ وَيَطُوفُ
عَلَيْهِمْ
غِلْمَانٌۭ
لَّهُمْ
كَأَنَّهُمْ
لُؤْلُؤٌۭ
مَّكْنُونٌۭ
ﲡ
Devoted youths like hidden pearls wait on them.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:25
وَأَقْبَلَ
بَعْضُهُمْ
عَلَىٰ
بَعْضٍۢ
يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
ﲧ
They turn to one another and say,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:26
قَالُوٓا۟
إِنَّا
كُنَّا
قَبْلُ
فِىٓ
أَهْلِنَا
مُشْفِقِينَ
ﲯ
‘When we were still with our families [on earth] we used to live in fear––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:27
فَمَنَّ
ٱللَّهُ
عَلَيْنَا
وَوَقَىٰنَا
عَذَابَ
ٱلسَّمُومِ
ﲶ
God has been gracious to us and saved us from the torment of intense heat-
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:28
إِنَّا
كُنَّا
مِن
قَبْلُ
نَدْعُوهُ ۖ
إِنَّهُۥ
هُوَ
ٱلْبَرُّ
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
ﳁ
We used to pray to Him: He is the Good, the Merciful One.’

52:29
فَذَكِّرْ
فَمَآ
أَنتَ
بِنِعْمَتِ
رَبِّكَ
بِكَاهِنٍۢ
وَلَا
مَجْنُونٍ
ﳊ
So [Prophet] remind [people]. By the grace of your Lord [Prophet], you are neither oracle nor madman.

52:30
أَمْ
يَقُولُونَ
شَاعِرٌۭ
نَّتَرَبَّصُ
بِهِۦ
رَيْبَ
ٱلْمَنُونِ
ﳒ
If they say, ‘He is only a poet: we shall await his fate,’

52:31
قُلْ
تَرَبَّصُوا۟
فَإِنِّى
مَعَكُم
مِّنَ
ٱلْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ
ﳙ
say, ‘Wait if you wish; I too am waiting’-

52:32
أَمْ
تَأْمُرُهُمْ
أَحْلَـٰمُهُم
بِهَـٰذَآ ۚ
أَمْ
هُمْ
قَوْمٌۭ
طَاغُونَ
ﱊ
does their reason really tell them to do this, or are they simply insolent people?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:33
أَمْ
يَقُولُونَ
تَقَوَّلَهُۥ ۚ
بَل
لَّا
يُؤْمِنُونَ
ﱒ
If they say, ‘He has made it up himself’- they certainly do not believe-
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:34
فَلْيَأْتُوا۟
بِحَدِيثٍۢ
مِّثْلِهِۦٓ
إِن
كَانُوا۟
صَـٰدِقِينَ
ﱙ
let them produce one like it, if what they say is true.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:35
أَمْ
خُلِقُوا۟
مِنْ
غَيْرِ
شَىْءٍ
أَمْ
هُمُ
ٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَ
ﱢ
Were they created without any agent? Were they the creators?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:36
أَمْ
خَلَقُوا۟
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
وَٱلْأَرْضَ ۚ
بَل
لَّا
يُوقِنُونَ
ﱫ
Did they create the heavens and the earth? No! They do not have faith.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:37
أَمْ
عِندَهُمْ
خَزَآئِنُ
رَبِّكَ
أَمْ
هُمُ
ٱلْمُصَۣيْطِرُونَ
ﱳ
Do they possess your Lord’s treasures or have control over them?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:38
أَمْ
لَهُمْ
سُلَّمٌۭ
يَسْتَمِعُونَ
فِيهِ ۖ
فَلْيَأْتِ
مُسْتَمِعُهُم
بِسُلْطَـٰنٍۢ
مُّبِينٍ
ﱾ
Do they have a ladder to climb, in order to eavesdrop [on Heaven’s secrets]? Let their eavesdropper produce clear proof.

52:39
أَمْ
لَهُ
ٱلْبَنَـٰتُ
وَلَكُمُ
ٱلْبَنُونَ
ﲄ
Does God have daughters while you have sons?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:40
أَمْ
تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ
أَجْرًۭا
فَهُم
مِّن
مَّغْرَمٍۢ
مُّثْقَلُونَ
ﲌ
Do you [Prophet] demand a payment from them that would burden them with debt?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:41
أَمْ
عِندَهُمُ
ٱلْغَيْبُ
فَهُمْ
يَكْتُبُونَ
ﲒ
Do they have [access to] the unseen? Could they write it down?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:42
أَمْ
يُرِيدُونَ
كَيْدًۭا ۖ
فَٱلَّذِينَ
كَفَرُوا۟
هُمُ
ٱلْمَكِيدُونَ
ﲛ
Do they think they can ensnare you? It is the disbelievers who have been ensnared.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:43
أَمْ
لَهُمْ
إِلَـٰهٌ
غَيْرُ
ٱللَّهِ ۚ
سُبْحَـٰنَ
ٱللَّهِ
عَمَّا
يُشْرِكُونَ
ﲦ
Do they really have another god besides God? God is far above anything they set alongside Him.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:44
وَإِن
يَرَوْا۟
كِسْفًۭا
مِّنَ
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
سَاقِطًۭا
يَقُولُوا۟
سَحَابٌۭ
مَّرْكُومٌۭ
ﲰ
Even if they saw a piece of heaven falling down on them, they would say, ‘Just a heap of clouds,’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:45
فَذَرْهُمْ
حَتَّىٰ
يُلَـٰقُوا۟
يَوْمَهُمُ
ٱلَّذِى
فِيهِ
يُصْعَقُونَ
ﲸ
so leave them, Prophet, until they face the Day when they will be thunderstruck,

52:46
يَوْمَ
لَا
يُغْنِى
عَنْهُمْ
كَيْدُهُمْ
شَيْـًۭٔا
وَلَا
هُمْ
يُنصَرُونَ
ﳂ
the Day when their snares will be of no use to them, when they will get no help.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:47
وَإِنَّ
لِلَّذِينَ
ظَلَمُوا۟
عَذَابًۭا
دُونَ
ذَٰلِكَ
وَلَـٰكِنَّ
أَكْثَرَهُمْ
لَا
يَعْلَمُونَ
ﳍ
Another punishment awaits the evildoers, though most of them do not realize it.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
52:48
وَٱصْبِرْ
لِحُكْمِ
رَبِّكَ
فَإِنَّكَ
بِأَعْيُنِنَا ۖ
وَسَبِّحْ
بِحَمْدِ
رَبِّكَ
حِينَ
تَقُومُ
ﳙ
Wait patiently [Prophet] for your Lord’s judgement: you are under Our watchful eye. Celebrate the praise of your Lord when you rise.

52:49
وَمِنَ
ٱلَّيْلِ
فَسَبِّحْهُ
وَإِدْبَـٰرَ
ٱلنُّجُومِ
ﳟ
Glorify Him at night and at the fading of the stars.
