78:1
عَمَّ
يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
ﱃ
What are they asking about?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:2
عَنِ
ٱلنَّبَإِ
ٱلْعَظِيمِ
ﱇ
The momentous announcement
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:3
ٱلَّذِى
هُمْ
فِيهِ
مُخْتَلِفُونَ
ﱌ
about which they differ.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:4
كَلَّا
سَيَعْلَمُونَ
ﱏ
They will find out.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:5
ثُمَّ
كَلَّا
سَيَعْلَمُونَ
ﱓ
In the end they will find out.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:6
أَلَمْ
نَجْعَلِ
ٱلْأَرْضَ
مِهَـٰدًۭا
ﱘ
Did We not make the earth smooth,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:7
وَٱلْجِبَالَ
أَوْتَادًۭا
ﱛ
and make the mountains to keep it stable?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:8
وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ
أَزْوَٰجًۭا
ﱞ
Did We not create you in pairs,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:9
وَجَعَلْنَا
نَوْمَكُمْ
سُبَاتًۭا
ﱢ
give you sleep for rest,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:10
وَجَعَلْنَا
ٱلَّيْلَ
لِبَاسًۭا
ﱦ
the night as a cover,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:11
وَجَعَلْنَا
ٱلنَّهَارَ
مَعَاشًۭا
ﱪ
and the day for your livelihood?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:12
وَبَنَيْنَا
فَوْقَكُمْ
سَبْعًۭا
شِدَادًۭا
ﱯ
Did We not build seven strong [heavens] above you,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:13
وَجَعَلْنَا
سِرَاجًۭا
وَهَّاجًۭا
ﱳ
and make a blazing lamp?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:14
وَأَنزَلْنَا
مِنَ
ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ
مَآءًۭ
ثَجَّاجًۭا
ﱹ
Did We not send water pouring down from the clouds
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:15
لِّنُخْرِجَ
بِهِۦ
حَبًّۭا
وَنَبَاتًۭا
ﱾ
to bring forth with it grain, plants,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:16
وَجَنَّـٰتٍ
أَلْفَافًا
ﲁ
and luxuriant gardens?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:17
إِنَّ
يَوْمَ
ٱلْفَصْلِ
كَانَ
مِيقَـٰتًۭا
ﲇ
A time has been appointed for the Day of Decision:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:18
يَوْمَ
يُنفَخُ
فِى
ٱلصُّورِ
فَتَأْتُونَ
أَفْوَاجًۭا
ﲎ
a Day when the Trumpet will sound and you will come forward in crowds,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:19
وَفُتِحَتِ
ٱلسَّمَآءُ
فَكَانَتْ
أَبْوَٰبًۭا
ﲓ
when the sky will open up like wide portals,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:20
وَسُيِّرَتِ
ٱلْجِبَالُ
فَكَانَتْ
سَرَابًا
ﲘ
when the mountains will vanish like a mirage.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:21
إِنَّ
جَهَنَّمَ
كَانَتْ
مِرْصَادًۭا
ﲝ
Hell lies in wait,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:22
لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ
مَـَٔابًۭا
ﲠ
a home for oppressors
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:23
لَّـٰبِثِينَ
فِيهَآ
أَحْقَابًۭا
ﲤ
to stay in for a long, long time,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:24
لَّا
يَذُوقُونَ
فِيهَا
بَرْدًۭا
وَلَا
شَرَابًا
ﲫ
where they will taste no coolness nor drink
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:25
إِلَّا
حَمِيمًۭا
وَغَسَّاقًۭا
ﲯ
except one that is scalding and dark––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:26
جَزَآءًۭ
وِفَاقًا
ﲲ
a fitting requital,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:27
إِنَّهُمْ
كَانُوا۟
لَا
يَرْجُونَ
حِسَابًۭا
ﲸ
for they did not fear a reckoning,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:28
وَكَذَّبُوا۟
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا
كِذَّابًۭا
ﲼ
and they rejected Our messages as lies.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:29
وَكُلَّ
شَىْءٍ
أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُ
كِتَـٰبًۭا
ﳁ
We have recorded everything in a Record.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:30
فَذُوقُوا۟
فَلَن
نَّزِيدَكُمْ
إِلَّا
عَذَابًا
ﳇ
‘Taste this: all you will get from Us is more torment.’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:31
إِنَّ
لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
مَفَازًا
ﱄ
For those who were aware of God there is supreme fulfilment:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:32
حَدَآئِقَ
وَأَعْنَـٰبًۭا
ﱇ
private gardens, vineyards,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:33
وَكَوَاعِبَ
أَتْرَابًۭا
ﱊ
nubile, well-matched companions,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:34
وَكَأْسًۭا
دِهَاقًۭا
ﱍ
and an overflowing cup.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:35
لَّا
يَسْمَعُونَ
فِيهَا
لَغْوًۭا
وَلَا
كِذَّٰبًۭا
ﱔ
There they will hear no vain or lying talk:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:36
جَزَآءًۭ
مِّن
رَّبِّكَ
عَطَآءً
حِسَابًۭا
ﱚ
a reward from your Lord, a fitting gift
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
78:37
رَّبِّ
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
وَمَا
بَيْنَهُمَا
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ
لَا
يَمْلِكُونَ
مِنْهُ
خِطَابًۭا
ﱦ
from the Lord of the heavens and earth and everything between, the Lord of Mercy. They will have no authority from Him to speak.

78:38
يَوْمَ
يَقُومُ
ٱلرُّوحُ
وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ
صَفًّۭا ۖ
لَّا
يَتَكَلَّمُونَ
إِلَّا
مَنْ
أَذِنَ
لَهُ
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ
وَقَالَ
صَوَابًۭا
ﱶ
On the Day when the Spirit and the angels stand in rows, they will not speak except for those to whom the Lord of Mercy gives permission, who will say only what is right.

78:39
ذَٰلِكَ
ٱلْيَوْمُ
ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ
فَمَن
شَآءَ
ٱتَّخَذَ
إِلَىٰ
رَبِّهِۦ
مَـَٔابًا
ﲁ
That is the Day of Truth. So whoever wishes to do so should take the path that leads to his Lord.

78:40
إِنَّآ
أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ
عَذَابًۭا
قَرِيبًۭا
يَوْمَ
يَنظُرُ
ٱلْمَرْءُ
مَا
قَدَّمَتْ
يَدَاهُ
وَيَقُولُ
ٱلْكَافِرُ
يَـٰلَيْتَنِى
كُنتُ
تُرَٰبًۢا
ﲑ
We have warned you of imminent torment, on the Day when every person will see what their own hands have sent ahead for them, when the disbeliever will say, ‘If only I were dust!’
