80:1
عَبَسَ
وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
ﱃ
He frowned and turned away
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:2
أَن
جَآءَهُ
ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ
ﱇ
when the blind man came to him––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:3
وَمَا
يُدْرِيكَ
لَعَلَّهُۥ
يَزَّكَّىٰٓ
ﱌ
for all you know, he might have grown in spirit,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:4
أَوْ
يَذَّكَّرُ
فَتَنفَعَهُ
ٱلذِّكْرَىٰٓ
ﱑ
or taken note of something useful to him.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:5
أَمَّا
مَنِ
ٱسْتَغْنَىٰ
ﱕ
For the self-satisfied one
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:6
فَأَنتَ
لَهُۥ
تَصَدَّىٰ
ﱙ
you go out of your way––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:7
وَمَا
عَلَيْكَ
أَلَّا
يَزَّكَّىٰ
ﱞ
though you are not to be blamed for his lack of spiritual growth––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:8
وَأَمَّا
مَن
جَآءَكَ
يَسْعَىٰ
ﱣ
but from the one who has come to you full of eagerness
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:9
وَهُوَ
يَخْشَىٰ
ﱦ
and awe
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:10
فَأَنتَ
عَنْهُ
تَلَهَّىٰ
ﱪ
you allow yourself to be distracted.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:11
كَلَّآ
إِنَّهَا
تَذْكِرَةٌۭ
ﱮ
No indeed! This [Quran] is a lesson
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:12
فَمَن
شَآءَ
ذَكَرَهُۥ
ﱲ
from which those who wish to be taught should learn,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:13
فِى
صُحُفٍۢ
مُّكَرَّمَةٍۢ
ﱶ
[written] on honoured,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:14
مَّرْفُوعَةٍۢ
مُّطَهَّرَةٍۭ
ﱹ
exalted, pure pages,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:15
بِأَيْدِى
سَفَرَةٍۢ
ﱼ
by the hands of
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:16
كِرَامٍۭ
بَرَرَةٍۢ
ﱿ
noble and virtuous scribes.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:17
قُتِلَ
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ
مَآ
أَكْفَرَهُۥ
ﲄ
Woe to man! How ungrateful he is!
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:18
مِنْ
أَىِّ
شَىْءٍ
خَلَقَهُۥ
ﲉ
From what thing does God create him?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:19
مِن
نُّطْفَةٍ
خَلَقَهُۥ
فَقَدَّرَهُۥ
ﲎ
He creates him from a droplet, He proportions him,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:20
ثُمَّ
ٱلسَّبِيلَ
يَسَّرَهُۥ
ﲒ
He makes the way easy for him,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:21
ثُمَّ
أَمَاتَهُۥ
فَأَقْبَرَهُۥ
ﲖ
then He causes him to die and be buried.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:22
ثُمَّ
إِذَا
شَآءَ
أَنشَرَهُۥ
ﲛ
When He wills, He will raise him up again.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:23
كَلَّا
لَمَّا
يَقْضِ
مَآ
أَمَرَهُۥ
ﲡ
Yet man does not fulfil God’s commands.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:24
فَلْيَنظُرِ
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ
إِلَىٰ
طَعَامِهِۦٓ
ﲦ
Let man consider the food he eats!
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:25
اَنَّا
صَبَبْنَا
ٱلْمَآءَ
صَبًّۭا
ﲫ
We pour down abundant water
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:26
ثُمَّ
شَقَقْنَا
ٱلْأَرْضَ
شَقًّۭا
ﲰ
and cause the soil to split open.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:27
فَأَنۢبَتْنَا
فِيهَا
حَبًّۭا
ﲴ
We make grain grow,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:28
وَعِنَبًۭا
وَقَضْبًۭا
ﲷ
and vines, fresh vegetation,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:29
وَزَيْتُونًۭا
وَنَخْلًۭا
ﲺ
olive trees, date palms,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:30
وَحَدَآئِقَ
غُلْبًۭا
ﲽ
luscious gardens,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:31
وَفَـٰكِهَةًۭ
وَأَبًّۭا
ﳀ
fruits, and fodder:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:32
مَّتَـٰعًۭا
لَّكُمْ
وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ
ﳄ
all for you and your livestock to enjoy.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:33
فَإِذَا
جَآءَتِ
ٱلصَّآخَّةُ
ﳈ
When the Deafening Blast comes––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:34
يَوْمَ
يَفِرُّ
ٱلْمَرْءُ
مِنْ
أَخِيهِ
ﳎ
the Day man will flee from his own brother,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:35
وَأُمِّهِۦ
وَأَبِيهِ
ﳑ
his mother, his father,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:36
وَصَـٰحِبَتِهِۦ
وَبَنِيهِ
ﳔ
his wife, his children:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:37
لِكُلِّ
ٱمْرِئٍۢ
مِّنْهُمْ
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ
شَأْنٌۭ
يُغْنِيهِ
ﳛ
each of them will be absorbed in concerns of their own on that Day-
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:38
وُجُوهٌۭ
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ
مُّسْفِرَةٌۭ
ﳟ
on that Day some faces will be beaming,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:39
ضَاحِكَةٌۭ
مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌۭ
ﳢ
laughing, and rejoicing,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:40
وَوُجُوهٌۭ
يَوْمَئِذٍ
عَلَيْهَا
غَبَرَةٌۭ
ﳧ
but some faces will be dust-stained
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:41
تَرْهَقُهَا
قَتَرَةٌ
ﱃ
and covered in darkness:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
80:42
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
هُمُ
ٱلْكَفَرَةُ
ٱلْفَجَرَةُ
ﱈ
those are the disbelievers, the licentious.
