Al-Fatihah — Verse 1
الفاتحة
Al-Fatihah is the opening chapter of the Quran and serves as the essential prayer recited in every unit of salah. It establishes the relationship between the servant and the Creator.
Despite being only seven verses, it encompasses praise, acknowledgment of divine sovereignty, a declaration of worship and reliance, and a prayer for guidance — summarizing the entire Quran's message.
Known as Umm al-Kitab (Mother of the Book), it is the most frequently recited surah and is considered the greatest surah in the Quran according to hadith narrations.
