27:1
طسٓ ۚ
تِلْكَ
ءَايَـٰتُ
ٱلْقُرْءَانِ
وَكِتَابٍۢ
مُّبِينٍ
Ta Sin These are the verses of the Quran––a scripture that makes things clear;

27:2
هُدًۭى
وَبُشْرَىٰ
لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
a guide and joyful news for the believers

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

27:3
ٱلَّذِينَ
يُقِيمُونَ
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
وَيُؤْتُونَ
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
وَهُم
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
هُمْ
يُوقِنُونَ
who keep up the prayer, pay the prescribed alms, and believe firmly in the life to come.

27:4
إِنَّ
ٱلَّذِينَ
لَا
يُؤْمِنُونَ
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
زَيَّنَّا
لَهُمْ
أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ
فَهُمْ
يَعْمَهُونَ
As for those who do not believe in the life to come, We have made their deeds seem alluring to them, so they wander blindly:

27:5
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ٱلَّذِينَ
لَهُمْ
سُوٓءُ
ٱلْعَذَابِ
وَهُمْ
فِى
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
هُمُ
ٱلْأَخْسَرُونَ
it is they who will have the worst suffering, and will be the ones to lose most in the life to come.

27:6
وَإِنَّكَ
لَتُلَقَّى
ٱلْقُرْءَانَ
مِن
لَّدُنْ
حَكِيمٍ
عَلِيمٍ
You [Prophet] receive the Quran from One who is all wise, all knowing.

27:7
إِذْ
قَالَ
مُوسَىٰ
لِأَهْلِهِۦٓ
إِنِّىٓ
ءَانَسْتُ
نَارًۭا
سَـَٔاتِيكُم
مِّنْهَا
بِخَبَرٍ
أَوْ
ءَاتِيكُم
بِشِهَابٍۢ
قَبَسٍۢ
لَّعَلَّكُمْ
تَصْطَلُونَ
Moses said to his family, ‘I have seen a fire. I will bring you news from there, or a burning stick for you to warm yourselves.’

27:8
فَلَمَّا
جَآءَهَا
نُودِىَ
أَنۢ
بُورِكَ
مَن
فِى
ٱلنَّارِ
وَمَنْ
حَوْلَهَا
وَسُبْحَـٰنَ
ٱللَّهِ
رَبِّ
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
When he reached the fire, a voice called: ‘Blessed is the person near this fireand those around it; may God be exalted, the Lord of the Worlds.

27:9
يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ
إِنَّهُۥٓ
أَنَا
ٱللَّهُ
ٱلْعَزِيزُ
ٱلْحَكِيمُ
Moses, I am God, the Mighty, the Wise.

27:10
وَأَلْقِ
عَصَاكَ ۚ
فَلَمَّا
رَءَاهَا
تَهْتَزُّ
كَأَنَّهَا
جَآنٌّۭ
وَلَّىٰ
مُدْبِرًۭا
وَلَمْ
يُعَقِّبْ ۚ
يَـٰمُوسَىٰ
لَا
تَخَفْ
إِنِّى
لَا
يَخَافُ
لَدَىَّ
ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
Throw down your staff,’ but when he saw it moving like a snake, he turned and fled. ‘Moses, do not be afraid! The messengers need have no fear in My presence,

27:11
إِلَّا
مَن
ظَلَمَ
ثُمَّ
بَدَّلَ
حُسْنًۢا
بَعْدَ
سُوٓءٍۢ
فَإِنِّى
غَفُورٌۭ
رَّحِيمٌۭ
I am truly most forgiving and merciful to those who do wrong,and then replace their evil with good.

27:12
وَأَدْخِلْ
يَدَكَ
فِى
جَيْبِكَ
تَخْرُجْ
بَيْضَآءَ
مِنْ
غَيْرِ
سُوٓءٍۢ ۖ
فِى
تِسْعِ
ءَايَـٰتٍ
إِلَىٰ
فِرْعَوْنَ
وَقَوْمِهِۦٓ ۚ
إِنَّهُمْ
كَانُوا۟
قَوْمًۭا
فَـٰسِقِينَ
Put your hand inside your cloak and it will come out white, but unharmed. These are among the nine signs that you will show Pharaoh and his people; they have really gone too far.’

27:13
فَلَمَّا
جَآءَتْهُمْ
ءَايَـٰتُنَا
مُبْصِرَةًۭ
قَالُوا۟
هَـٰذَا
سِحْرٌۭ
مُّبِينٌۭ
But when Our enlightening signs came to them, they said, ‘This is clearly [just] sorcery!’

27:14
وَجَحَدُوا۟
بِهَا
وَٱسْتَيْقَنَتْهَآ
أَنفُسُهُمْ
ظُلْمًۭا
وَعُلُوًّۭا ۚ
فَٱنظُرْ
كَيْفَ
كَانَ
عَـٰقِبَةُ
ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ
They denied them, in their wickedness and their pride, even though their souls acknowledged them as true. See how those who spread corruption met their end!

27:15
وَلَقَدْ
ءَاتَيْنَا
دَاوُۥدَ
وَسُلَيْمَـٰنَ
عِلْمًۭا ۖ
وَقَالَا
ٱلْحَمْدُ
لِلَّهِ
ٱلَّذِى
فَضَّلَنَا
عَلَىٰ
كَثِيرٍۢ
مِّنْ
عِبَادِهِ
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
We gave knowledge to David and Solomon, and they both said, ‘Praise be to God, who has favoured us over many of His believing servants.’

27:16
وَوَرِثَ
سُلَيْمَـٰنُ
دَاوُۥدَ ۖ
وَقَالَ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
ٱلنَّاسُ
عُلِّمْنَا
مَنطِقَ
ٱلطَّيْرِ
وَأُوتِينَا
مِن
كُلِّ
شَىْءٍ ۖ
إِنَّ
هَـٰذَا
لَهُوَ
ٱلْفَضْلُ
ٱلْمُبِينُ
Solomon succeeded David. He said, ‘People, we have been taught the speech of birds, and we have been given a share of everything: this is a clearly a great favour.’

27:17
وَحُشِرَ
لِسُلَيْمَـٰنَ
جُنُودُهُۥ
مِنَ
ٱلْجِنِّ
وَٱلْإِنسِ
وَٱلطَّيْرِ
فَهُمْ
يُوزَعُونَ
Solomon’s hosts of jinn, men, and birds were marshalled in ordered ranks before him,

27:18
حَتَّىٰٓ
إِذَآ
أَتَوْا۟
عَلَىٰ
وَادِ
ٱلنَّمْلِ
قَالَتْ
نَمْلَةٌۭ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
ٱلنَّمْلُ
ٱدْخُلُوا۟
مَسَـٰكِنَكُمْ
لَا
يَحْطِمَنَّكُمْ
سُلَيْمَـٰنُ
وَجُنُودُهُۥ
وَهُمْ
لَا
يَشْعُرُونَ
and when they came to the Valley of the Ants, one ant said, ‘Ants! Go into your homes, in case Solomon and his hosts unwittingly crush you.’

27:19
فَتَبَسَّمَ
ضَاحِكًۭا
مِّن
قَوْلِهَا
وَقَالَ
رَبِّ
أَوْزِعْنِىٓ
أَنْ
أَشْكُرَ
نِعْمَتَكَ
ٱلَّتِىٓ
أَنْعَمْتَ
عَلَىَّ
وَعَلَىٰ
وَٰلِدَىَّ
وَأَنْ
أَعْمَلَ
صَـٰلِحًۭا
تَرْضَىٰهُ
وَأَدْخِلْنِى
بِرَحْمَتِكَ
فِى
عِبَادِكَ
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
Solomon smiled broadly at her words and said, ‘Lord, inspire me to be thankful for the blessings You have granted me and my parents, and to do good deeds that please You; admit me by Your grace into the ranks of Your righteous servants.’

27:20
وَتَفَقَّدَ
ٱلطَّيْرَ
فَقَالَ
مَا
لِىَ
لَآ
أَرَى
ٱلْهُدْهُدَ
أَمْ
كَانَ
مِنَ
ٱلْغَآئِبِينَ
Solomon inspected the birds and said, ‘Why do I not see the hoopoe? Is he absent?
