83:1
وَيْلٌۭ
لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ
ﲧ
Woe to those who give short measure,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:2
ٱلَّذِينَ
إِذَا
ٱكْتَالُوا۟
عَلَى
ٱلنَّاسِ
يَسْتَوْفُونَ
ﲮ
who demand of other people full measure for themselves,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:3
وَإِذَا
كَالُوهُمْ
أَو
وَّزَنُوهُمْ
يُخْسِرُونَ
ﲴ
but give less than they should when it is they who weigh or measure for others!

83:4
أَلَا
يَظُنُّ
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
أَنَّهُم
مَّبْعُوثُونَ
ﲺ
Do these people not realize that they will be raised up
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:5
لِيَوْمٍ
عَظِيمٍۢ
ﱃ
on a mighty Day,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:6
يَوْمَ
يَقُومُ
ٱلنَّاسُ
لِرَبِّ
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
ﱉ
a Day when everyone will stand before the Lord of the Worlds?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:7
كَلَّآ
إِنَّ
كِتَـٰبَ
ٱلْفُجَّارِ
لَفِى
سِجِّينٍۢ
ﱐ
No indeed! The list of the wicked is in Sijjin––

83:8
وَمَآ
أَدْرَىٰكَ
مَا
سِجِّينٌۭ
ﱕ
what will explain to you what Sijjin is?––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:9
كِتَـٰبٌۭ
مَّرْقُومٌۭ
ﱘ
a clearly numbered list.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:10
وَيْلٌۭ
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ
لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
ﱜ
Woe on that day to the deniers,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:11
ٱلَّذِينَ
يُكَذِّبُونَ
بِيَوْمِ
ٱلدِّينِ
ﱡ
those who deny the Day of Judgement!
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:12
وَمَا
يُكَذِّبُ
بِهِۦٓ
إِلَّا
كُلُّ
مُعْتَدٍ
أَثِيمٍ
ﱩ
Only the evil aggressor denies it:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:13
إِذَا
تُتْلَىٰ
عَلَيْهِ
ءَايَـٰتُنَا
قَالَ
أَسَـٰطِيرُ
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
ﱱ
when Our revelations are recited to him, he says, ‘Ancient fables!’

83:14
كَلَّا ۖ
بَلْ ۜ
رَانَ
عَلَىٰ
قُلُوبِهِم
مَّا
كَانُوا۟
يَكْسِبُونَ
ﱼ
No indeed! Their hearts are encrusted with what they have done.

83:15
كَلَّآ
إِنَّهُمْ
عَن
رَّبِّهِمْ
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ
لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ
ﲃ
No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from their Lord,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:16
ثُمَّ
إِنَّهُمْ
لَصَالُوا۟
ٱلْجَحِيمِ
ﲈ
they will burn in Hell,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:17
ثُمَّ
يُقَالُ
هَـٰذَا
ٱلَّذِى
كُنتُم
بِهِۦ
تُكَذِّبُونَ
ﲐ
and they will be told, ‘This is what you called a lie.’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:18
كَلَّآ
إِنَّ
كِتَـٰبَ
ٱلْأَبْرَارِ
لَفِى
عِلِّيِّينَ
ﲗ
No indeed! The list of the truly good is in 'Illiyyin––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:19
وَمَآ
أَدْرَىٰكَ
مَا
عِلِّيُّونَ
ﲜ
what will explain to you what 'Illiyyin is?––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:20
كِتَـٰبٌۭ
مَّرْقُومٌۭ
ﲟ
a clearly written list,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:21
يَشْهَدُهُ
ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
ﲢ
witnessed by those brought near.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:22
إِنَّ
ٱلْأَبْرَارَ
لَفِى
نَعِيمٍ
ﲧ
The truly good will live in bliss,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:23
عَلَى
ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ
يَنظُرُونَ
ﲫ
seated on couches, gazing around.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:24
تَعْرِفُ
فِى
وُجُوهِهِمْ
نَضْرَةَ
ٱلنَّعِيمِ
ﲱ
You will recognize on their faces the radiance of bliss.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:25
يُسْقَوْنَ
مِن
رَّحِيقٍۢ
مَّخْتُومٍ
ﲶ
They will be served a sealed nectar,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:26
خِتَـٰمُهُۥ
مِسْكٌۭ ۚ
وَفِى
ذَٰلِكَ
فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ
ٱلْمُتَنَـٰفِسُونَ
ﲾ
its seal [perfumed with] a fragrant herb––let those who strive, strive for this––

83:27
وَمِزَاجُهُۥ
مِن
تَسْنِيمٍ
ﳂ
mixed with the water of Tasnim,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:28
عَيْنًۭا
يَشْرَبُ
بِهَا
ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
ﳇ
a spring from which those brought near will drink.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:29
إِنَّ
ٱلَّذِينَ
أَجْرَمُوا۟
كَانُوا۟
مِنَ
ٱلَّذِينَ
ءَامَنُوا۟
يَضْحَكُونَ
ﳐ
The wicked used to laugh at the believers––

83:30
وَإِذَا
مَرُّوا۟
بِهِمْ
يَتَغَامَزُونَ
ﳕ
they would wink at one another when the believers passed by them,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:31
وَإِذَا
ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟
إِلَىٰٓ
أَهْلِهِمُ
ٱنقَلَبُوا۟
فَكِهِينَ
ﳜ
joke about them when they got back to their own people,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:32
وَإِذَا
رَأَوْهُمْ
قَالُوٓا۟
إِنَّ
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
لَضَآلُّونَ
ﳣ
and say, when they saw them, ‘These people are misguided,’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:33
وَمَآ
أُرْسِلُوا۟
عَلَيْهِمْ
حَـٰفِظِينَ
ﳨ
though they were not sent to be their keepers-
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:34
فَٱلْيَوْمَ
ٱلَّذِينَ
ءَامَنُوا۟
مِنَ
ٱلْكُفَّارِ
يَضْحَكُونَ
ﱇ
so today the believers are laughing at the disbelievers
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:35
عَلَى
ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ
يَنظُرُونَ
ﱋ
as they sit on couches, gazing around.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
83:36
هَلْ
ثُوِّبَ
ٱلْكُفَّارُ
مَا
كَانُوا۟
يَفْعَلُونَ
ﱒ
Have the disbelievers [not] been repaid for their deeds?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
