53:1
وَٱلنَّجْمِ
إِذَا
هَوَىٰ
ﱄ
By the star when it sets!
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
53:2
مَا
ضَلَّ
صَاحِبُكُمْ
وَمَا
غَوَىٰ
ﱊ
Your companion has not strayed; he is not deluded;
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
53:3
وَمَا
يَنطِقُ
عَنِ
ٱلْهَوَىٰٓ
ﱏ
he does not speak from his own desire.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
53:4
إِنْ
هُوَ
إِلَّا
وَحْىٌۭ
يُوحَىٰ
ﱕ
The Quran is nothing less than a revelation that is sent to him.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
53:5
عَلَّمَهُۥ
شَدِيدُ
ٱلْقُوَىٰ
ﱙ
It was taught to him by [an angel] with mighty powers
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
53:6
ذُو
مِرَّةٍۢ
فَٱسْتَوَىٰ
ﱝ
and great strength, who stood
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
53:7
وَهُوَ
بِٱلْأُفُقِ
ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ
ﱡ
on the highest horizon
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
53:8
ثُمَّ
دَنَا
فَتَدَلَّىٰ
ﱥ
and then approached––coming down
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
53:9
فَكَانَ
قَابَ
قَوْسَيْنِ
أَوْ
أَدْنَىٰ
ﱫ
until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
53:10
فَأَوْحَىٰٓ
إِلَىٰ
عَبْدِهِۦ
مَآ
أَوْحَىٰ
ﱱ
and revealed to God’s servant what He revealed.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
53:11
مَا
كَذَبَ
ٱلْفُؤَادُ
مَا
رَأَىٰٓ
ﱷ
[The Prophet’s] own heart did not distort what he saw.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
53:12
أَفَتُمَـٰرُونَهُۥ
عَلَىٰ
مَا
يَرَىٰ
ﱼ
Are you going to dispute with him what he saw with his own eyes?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
53:13
وَلَقَدْ
رَءَاهُ
نَزْلَةً
أُخْرَىٰ
ﲁ
A second time he saw him:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
53:14
عِندَ
سِدْرَةِ
ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ
ﲅ
by the lote tree beyond which none may pass
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
53:15
عِندَهَا
جَنَّةُ
ٱلْمَأْوَىٰٓ
ﲉ
near the Garden of Restfulness,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
53:16
إِذْ
يَغْشَى
ٱلسِّدْرَةَ
مَا
يَغْشَىٰ
ﲏ
when the tree was covered in nameless [splendour].
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
53:17
مَا
زَاغَ
ٱلْبَصَرُ
وَمَا
طَغَىٰ
ﲕ
His sight never wavered, nor was it too bold,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
53:18
لَقَدْ
رَأَىٰ
مِنْ
ءَايَـٰتِ
رَبِّهِ
ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ
ﲜ
and he saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
53:19
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ
ٱللَّـٰتَ
وَٱلْعُزَّىٰ
ﲠ
[Disbelievers], consider al-Lat and al-Uzza,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
53:20
وَمَنَوٰةَ
ٱلثَّالِثَةَ
ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓ
ﲤ
and the third one, Manat––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
