86:1
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ
وَٱلطَّارِقِ
ﱃ
By the sky and the night-comer––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
86:2
وَمَآ
أَدْرَىٰكَ
مَا
ٱلطَّارِقُ
ﱈ
What will explain to you what the night-comer is?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
86:3
ٱلنَّجْمُ
ٱلثَّاقِبُ
ﱋ
The piercing star––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
86:4
إِن
كُلُّ
نَفْسٍۢ
لَّمَّا
عَلَيْهَا
حَافِظٌۭ
ﱒ
there is a watcher over every soul.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
86:5
فَلْيَنظُرِ
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ
مِمَّ
خُلِقَ
ﱗ
Man should reflect on what he was created from.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
86:6
خُلِقَ
مِن
مَّآءٍۢ
دَافِقٍۢ
ﱜ
He is created from spurting fluid,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
86:7
يَخْرُجُ
مِنۢ
بَيْنِ
ٱلصُّلْبِ
وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ
ﱢ
then he emerges from between the backbone and breastbone:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
86:8
إِنَّهُۥ
عَلَىٰ
رَجْعِهِۦ
لَقَادِرٌۭ
ﱧ
God is certainly able to bring him back to life.

86:9
يَوْمَ
تُبْلَى
ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ
ﱫ
On the Day when secrets are laid bare
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
86:10
فَمَا
لَهُۥ
مِن
قُوَّةٍۢ
وَلَا
نَاصِرٍۢ
ﱲ
he will have no power and no one to help him.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
86:11
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ
ذَاتِ
ٱلرَّجْعِ
ﱶ
By the sky and its recurring rain,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
86:12
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
ذَاتِ
ٱلصَّدْعِ
ﱺ
by the earth that cracks open!
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
86:13
إِنَّهُۥ
لَقَوْلٌۭ
فَصْلٌۭ
ﱾ
This is truly a decisive statement;
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
86:14
وَمَا
هُوَ
بِٱلْهَزْلِ
ﲂ
it is not something to be taken lightly.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
86:15
إِنَّهُمْ
يَكِيدُونَ
كَيْدًۭا
ﲆ
They plot and scheme,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
86:16
وَأَكِيدُ
كَيْدًۭا
ﲉ
but so do I:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
86:17
فَمَهِّلِ
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
أَمْهِلْهُمْ
رُوَيْدًۢا
ﲎ
[Prophet], let the disbelievers be, let them be for a while.
