88:1
هَلْ
أَتَىٰكَ
حَدِيثُ
ٱلْغَـٰشِيَةِ
ﱱ
Have you heard tell [Prophet] about the Overwhelming Event?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:2
وُجُوهٌۭ
يَوْمَئِذٍ
خَـٰشِعَةٌ
ﱵ
On that Day, there will be downcast faces,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:3
عَامِلَةٌۭ
نَّاصِبَةٌۭ
ﱸ
toiling and weary,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:4
تَصْلَىٰ
نَارًا
حَامِيَةًۭ
ﱼ
as they enter the blazing Fire
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:5
تُسْقَىٰ
مِنْ
عَيْنٍ
ءَانِيَةٍۢ
ﲁ
and are forced to drink from a boiling spring,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:6
لَّيْسَ
لَهُمْ
طَعَامٌ
إِلَّا
مِن
ضَرِيعٍۢ
ﲈ
with no food for them except bitter dry thorns

88:7
لَّا
يُسْمِنُ
وَلَا
يُغْنِى
مِن
جُوعٍۢ
ﲏ
that neither nourish nor satisfy hunger.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:8
وُجُوهٌۭ
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ
نَّاعِمَةٌۭ
ﲓ
On that Day there will also be faces radiant with bliss,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:9
لِّسَعْيِهَا
رَاضِيَةٌۭ
ﲖ
well pleased with their labour,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:10
فِى
جَنَّةٍ
عَالِيَةٍۢ
ﲚ
in a lofty garden,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:11
لَّا
تَسْمَعُ
فِيهَا
لَـٰغِيَةًۭ
ﲟ
where they will hear no idle talk,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:12
فِيهَا
عَيْنٌۭ
جَارِيَةٌۭ
ﲣ
with a flowing spring,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:13
فِيهَا
سُرُرٌۭ
مَّرْفُوعَةٌۭ
ﲧ
raised couches,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:14
وَأَكْوَابٌۭ
مَّوْضُوعَةٌۭ
ﲪ
goblets placed before them,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:15
وَنَمَارِقُ
مَصْفُوفَةٌۭ
ﲭ
cushions set in rows,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:16
وَزَرَابِىُّ
مَبْثُوثَةٌ
ﲰ
and carpets spread.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:17
أَفَلَا
يَنظُرُونَ
إِلَى
ٱلْإِبِلِ
كَيْفَ
خُلِقَتْ
ﲷ
Do the disbelievers not see how rain clouds are formed 1
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:18
وَإِلَى
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
كَيْفَ
رُفِعَتْ
ﲼ
how the heavens are lifted,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:19
وَإِلَى
ٱلْجِبَالِ
كَيْفَ
نُصِبَتْ
ﳁ
how the mountains are raised high,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:20
وَإِلَى
ٱلْأَرْضِ
كَيْفَ
سُطِحَتْ
ﳆ
how the earth is spread out?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:21
فَذَكِّرْ
إِنَّمَآ
أَنتَ
مُذَكِّرٌۭ
ﳋ
So [Prophet] warn them: your only task is to give warning,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:22
لَّسْتَ
عَلَيْهِم
بِمُصَيْطِرٍ
ﳏ
you are not there to control them.

88:23
إِلَّا
مَن
تَوَلَّىٰ
وَكَفَرَ
ﱅ
As for those who turn away and disbelieve,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:24
فَيُعَذِّبُهُ
ٱللَّهُ
ٱلْعَذَابَ
ٱلْأَكْبَرَ
ﱊ
God will inflict the greatest torment upon them.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:25
إِنَّ
إِلَيْنَآ
إِيَابَهُمْ
ﱎ
It is to Us they will return,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
88:26
ثُمَّ
إِنَّ
عَلَيْنَا
حِسَابَهُم
ﱓ
and then it is for Us to call them to account.
