89:1
وَٱلْفَجْرِ
ﱕ
By the Daybreak,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:2
وَلَيَالٍ
عَشْرٍۢ
ﱘ
by the Ten Nights,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:3
وَٱلشَّفْعِ
وَٱلْوَتْرِ
ﱛ
by the even and the odd,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:4
وَٱلَّيْلِ
إِذَا
يَسْرِ
ﱟ
by the passing night––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:5
هَلْ
فِى
ذَٰلِكَ
قَسَمٌۭ
لِّذِى
حِجْرٍ
ﱦ
is this oath strong enough for a rational person?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:6
أَلَمْ
تَرَ
كَيْفَ
فَعَلَ
رَبُّكَ
بِعَادٍ
ﱭ
Have you [Prophet] considered how your Lord dealt with [the people] of 'Ad,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:7
إِرَمَ
ذَاتِ
ٱلْعِمَادِ
ﱱ
of Iram, [the city] of lofty pillars,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:8
ٱلَّتِى
لَمْ
يُخْلَقْ
مِثْلُهَا
فِى
ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ
ﱸ
whose like has never been made in any land,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:9
وَثَمُودَ
ٱلَّذِينَ
جَابُوا۟
ٱلصَّخْرَ
بِٱلْوَادِ
ﱾ
and the Thamud, who hewed into the rocks in the valley,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:10
وَفِرْعَوْنَ
ذِى
ٱلْأَوْتَادِ
ﲂ
and the mighty and powerful Pharaoh?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:11
ٱلَّذِينَ
طَغَوْا۟
فِى
ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ
ﲇ
All of them committed excesses in their lands,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:12
فَأَكْثَرُوا۟
فِيهَا
ٱلْفَسَادَ
ﲋ
and spread corruption there:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:13
فَصَبَّ
عَلَيْهِمْ
رَبُّكَ
سَوْطَ
عَذَابٍ
ﲑ
your Lord let a scourge of punishment loose on them.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:14
إِنَّ
رَبَّكَ
لَبِٱلْمِرْصَادِ
ﲕ
Your Lord is always watchful.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:15
فَأَمَّا
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ
إِذَا
مَا
ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ
رَبُّهُۥ
فَأَكْرَمَهُۥ
وَنَعَّمَهُۥ
فَيَقُولُ
رَبِّىٓ
أَكْرَمَنِ
ﲡ
[The nature of] man is that, when his Lord tries him through honour and blessings, he says, ‘My Lord has honoured me,’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:16
وَأَمَّآ
إِذَا
مَا
ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ
فَقَدَرَ
عَلَيْهِ
رِزْقَهُۥ
فَيَقُولُ
رَبِّىٓ
أَهَـٰنَنِ
ﲬ
but when He tries him through the restriction of his provision, he says, ‘My Lord has humiliated me.’

89:17
كَلَّا ۖ
بَل
لَّا
تُكْرِمُونَ
ٱلْيَتِيمَ
ﲳ
No indeed! You [people] do not honour orphans,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:18
وَلَا
تَحَـٰٓضُّونَ
عَلَىٰ
طَعَامِ
ٱلْمِسْكِينِ
ﲹ
you do not urge one another to feed the poor,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:19
وَتَأْكُلُونَ
ٱلتُّرَاثَ
أَكْلًۭا
لَّمًّۭا
ﲾ
you consume inheritance greedily,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:20
وَتُحِبُّونَ
ٱلْمَالَ
حُبًّۭا
جَمًّۭا
ﳃ
and you love wealth with a passion.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:21
كَلَّآ
إِذَا
دُكَّتِ
ٱلْأَرْضُ
دَكًّۭا
دَكًّۭا
ﳋ
No indeed! When the earth is pounded to dust, pounded and pounded,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:22
وَجَآءَ
رَبُّكَ
وَٱلْمَلَكُ
صَفًّۭا
صَفًّۭا
ﳑ
when your Lord comes with the angels, rank upon rank,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:23
وَجِا۟ىٓءَ
يَوْمَئِذٍۭ
بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚ
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ
يَتَذَكَّرُ
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ
وَأَنَّىٰ
لَهُ
ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ
ﱋ
when Hell is that Day brought near- on that Day man will take heed, but what good will that be to him then?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:24
يَقُولُ
يَـٰلَيْتَنِى
قَدَّمْتُ
لِحَيَاتِى
ﱐ
He will say, ‘Would that I had provided for this life to come!’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:25
فَيَوْمَئِذٍۢ
لَّا
يُعَذِّبُ
عَذَابَهُۥٓ
أَحَدٌۭ
ﱖ
On that Day, no one will punish as He punishes,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:26
وَلَا
يُوثِقُ
وَثَاقَهُۥٓ
أَحَدٌۭ
ﱛ
and no one will bind as He binds.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:27
يَـٰٓأَيَّتُهَا
ٱلنَّفْسُ
ٱلْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ
ﱟ
‘[But] you, soul at peace:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:28
ٱرْجِعِىٓ
إِلَىٰ
رَبِّكِ
رَاضِيَةًۭ
مَّرْضِيَّةًۭ
ﱥ
return to your Lord well pleased and well pleasing;
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:29
فَٱدْخُلِى
فِى
عِبَـٰدِى
ﱩ
go in among My servants;
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
89:30
وَٱدْخُلِى
جَنَّتِى
ﱬ
and into My Garden.’
