51:31
۞ قَالَ
فَمَا
خَطْبُكُمْ
أَيُّهَا
ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
ﱇ
Abraham said, ‘What is your errand, messengers?’

51:32
قَالُوٓا۟
إِنَّآ
أُرْسِلْنَآ
إِلَىٰ
قَوْمٍۢ
مُّجْرِمِينَ
ﱎ
They said, ‘We are sent to a people lost in sin,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
51:33
لِنُرْسِلَ
عَلَيْهِمْ
حِجَارَةًۭ
مِّن
طِينٍۢ
ﱔ
to bring down rocks of clay,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
51:34
مُّسَوَّمَةً
عِندَ
رَبِّكَ
لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ
ﱙ
marked by your Lord for those who exceed all bounds.’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
51:35
فَأَخْرَجْنَا
مَن
كَانَ
فِيهَا
مِنَ
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
ﱠ
We brought out such believers as were there-
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
51:36
فَمَا
وَجَدْنَا
فِيهَا
غَيْرَ
بَيْتٍۢ
مِّنَ
ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ
ﱨ
We found only one household devoted to God-
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
51:37
وَتَرَكْنَا
فِيهَآ
ءَايَةًۭ
لِّلَّذِينَ
يَخَافُونَ
ٱلْعَذَابَ
ٱلْأَلِيمَ
ﱰ
and left the town to be a sign for those who fear the painful punishment.

51:38
وَفِى
مُوسَىٰٓ
إِذْ
أَرْسَلْنَـٰهُ
إِلَىٰ
فِرْعَوْنَ
بِسُلْطَـٰنٍۢ
مُّبِينٍۢ
ﱹ
There is another sign in Moses: We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority.

51:39
فَتَوَلَّىٰ
بِرُكْنِهِۦ
وَقَالَ
سَـٰحِرٌ
أَوْ
مَجْنُونٌۭ
ﲀ
Pharaoh turned away with his supporters, saying, ‘This is a sorcerer, or maybe a madman,’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
51:40
فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُ
وَجُنُودَهُۥ
فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُمْ
فِى
ٱلْيَمِّ
وَهُوَ
مُلِيمٌۭ
ﲈ
so We seized him and his forces and threw them into the sea: he was to blame.

51:41
وَفِى
عَادٍ
إِذْ
أَرْسَلْنَا
عَلَيْهِمُ
ٱلرِّيحَ
ٱلْعَقِيمَ
ﲐ
There is another sign in the Ad: We sent the life-destroying wind against them

51:42
مَا
تَذَرُ
مِن
شَىْءٍ
أَتَتْ
عَلَيْهِ
إِلَّا
جَعَلَتْهُ
كَٱلرَّمِيمِ
ﲚ
and it reduced everything it came up against to shreds.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
51:43
وَفِى
ثَمُودَ
إِذْ
قِيلَ
لَهُمْ
تَمَتَّعُوا۟
حَتَّىٰ
حِينٍۢ
ﲣ
And also in the Thamud: it was said to them, ‘Make the most of your lives for a while,’

51:44
فَعَتَوْا۟
عَنْ
أَمْرِ
رَبِّهِمْ
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ
ٱلصَّـٰعِقَةُ
وَهُمْ
يَنظُرُونَ
ﲬ
but they rebelled against their Lord’s command, so the blast took them. They looked on helplessly:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
51:45
فَمَا
ٱسْتَطَـٰعُوا۟
مِن
قِيَامٍۢ
وَمَا
كَانُوا۟
مُنتَصِرِينَ
ﲴ
they could not even remain standing, let alone defend themselves.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
51:46
وَقَوْمَ
نُوحٍۢ
مِّن
قَبْلُ ۖ
إِنَّهُمْ
كَانُوا۟
قَوْمًۭا
فَـٰسِقِينَ
ﲾ
Before that We destroyed the people of Noah. They were a truly sinful people!

51:47
وَٱلسَّمَآءَ
بَنَيْنَـٰهَا
بِأَيْي۟دٍۢ
وَإِنَّا
لَمُوسِعُونَ
ﳄ
We built the heavens with Our power and made them vast,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
51:48
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
فَرَشْنَـٰهَا
فَنِعْمَ
ٱلْمَـٰهِدُونَ
ﳉ
We spread out the earth- how well We smoothed it out!-
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
51:49
وَمِن
كُلِّ
شَىْءٍ
خَلَقْنَا
زَوْجَيْنِ
لَعَلَّكُمْ
تَذَكَّرُونَ
ﳑ
and We created pairs of all things so that you [people] might take note.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
51:50
فَفِرُّوٓا۟
إِلَى
ٱللَّهِ ۖ
إِنِّى
لَكُم
مِّنْهُ
نَذِيرٌۭ
مُّبِينٌۭ
ﳛ
[So, say to them, Prophet], ‘Quickly, turn to God- I am sent by Him to give you clear warning-
